January 2010

Each of the Walks is dedicated to an Honouree – a person who has been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia.

This
Investors Group Walk for Memories was dedicated to
Donna Mary Grais.
Donna Grais (nee Wheatley) was born and raised in Nanaimo during World War II. Her father was a coal miner and her mother a homemaker. Donna worked at a local hospital until she married. Dedicated to raising her three children, she was always there for them, attending their dance and sport competitions or being there for them when they got home from school.
Donna’s diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease gave her family a chance to give back all that they had received from her. They worked together to keep her at home as long as possible before her final hospital admission. She passed away last February.
“My mother was one-of-a-kind, always there for her family and community,” said Donna’s daughter, Rhonda Erickson. “As this year’s Investors Group Walk for Memories honouree, she will once again be there in spirit for all those who knew and loved her.”
This is your opportunity to show you care, and honour Donna Mary's memory.
